My work employs figurative statues in environments I want to revisit, or that I dream of visiting. Some are made up patterns that express a whimsical fantasy.
They often serve as symbolic self-portraits expressing the emotions that surface when revisiting the landscape photographs from my travels. My background in photography has taught me to document everything and my career as an art history teacher has garnished a love of antiquity and travel. I often combine photographs of sculptures taken on one trip with environments taken on another.
I also have a love of florals and patterns and use these to create imagined spaces for my sculptural figures to exist in. I am in constant awe of how universal feelings are and that a sculpture created a thousand years before me can express the exact feeling I am having today.
